Notes:


This is the largest of three Shumard oaks in the area between Cole Hall and the Sarratt Student center, and is mentioned on page 62 of The Trees of Vanderbilt. Another is surrounded by the steps leading up to the entrance of Sarratt. This tree's twin, on the other side of the entrance walk to Cole Hall, is nicknamed "Big Al", although with a diameter of 104 cm (41 in.), this tree has a bigger girth than Al's.
